Today Is My Peaceful Day — The Walk Continues in Our Hearts

I was deeply inspired by the Walk for Peace led by Buddhist monks who walked for 108 days from Fort Worth, Texas to Washington, D.C.

Their steps may have reached their destination, but the practice itself continues.

I would like to keep that spirit alive by offering a weekly Sunday Peace Practice.

If you are unfamiliar with the Walk’s message, it is beautifully simple:

Each morning, write down the words:
“Today is my Peaceful Day.”

Then read the words aloud.
Pause.
Take a few quiet breaths, allowing the intention to settle within you.

As you move through your day, gently return to this intention and let your actions reflect it.

As the days pass this practice seeps into the soul. And if you forget for a day or two — or even a week — that’s okay.
Simply begin again.

Just as in meditation, when we notice the mind has wandered,
we return to the breath without judgment.
No criticism.
No need to catch up.
Only a quiet willingness to start where we are.

Each time we return, we strengthen the habit of peace.

Peace isn’t built through perfection.

It grows through returning — again and again —
with kindness toward ourselves.

Today’s Peace Practice
Be kind to yourself, and begin again right where you are.

Wherever you are today, may you feel supported, grounded, and gently at ease.

With abundant metta,
Barbara
